Chapter 1

To clear my hazy vision, I blinked several times.
I pushed myself up from the soft bed, and then I looked in the mirror on the wall and saw…
Hands that are thick and chubby.
Arms shaped as sausages
Fluffy cheeks
A body that does not move at will.
This short body, no matter how I look at it, belongs to a four-year-old child.

‘Again,’ I said as I looked at myself in the mirror. I’ve returned. I can’t believe I’m going to have to go through this hell again.’
My name is Leblaine, and I’d like to introduce myself.

My life wasn’t a shambles at first.

Since I was the only orphan born on February 29th with divine power, I am known as “The child of destiny.” I count myself incredibly blessed. The empress determined that a child of destiny would require a strong foundation, so she had me adopted into a noble family.
I became the offspring of my chosen family simply by sitting on the Empress Dowager’s lap and selecting one of her portraits.

There were three options.
1. The Duke of Ami Thie, a justice knight who upholds the Empire’s rule.
2. The Duke of Val Lua, a famous family with a thousand scholars.
3. The Duke of Dubblede, who had vast military and economic resources but was the villain of the villains.

Ami Thie was the family I chose in my first life.
He was a wonderful father.
As a new parent, I followed him with reverence as a wise, just, and fair human.
It had been a quiet world before she emerged, the true child of destiny. In reality, I was a kid with a fictitious destiny. Mina was a true “child of destiny,” unlike me, who studied for three to four hours a day but struggled to fully cultivate my spiritual power.
Mina shone brightly like the sun. Everyone, including the Duke of Ami Thie, adored her. Father and Mina were fated to be drawn to each other, and with a little support, Mina became father’s second daughter. During the famine, she summoned the spirit and, thanks to her foresight, she was able to avert the battle.
In a ceremony to seal the evil spirit, I was sacrificed for Mina.
When I first returned, I was overjoyed. I figured it was a gift from God to start a new life.

I picked “The Duke of Val Lua” for my second life. Every day, though, I was thrashed by Duke Val Lua.
He was the ultimate villain.
He used to beat me with his fists, claiming that it was all part of my education. When I went to the palace, he just cleaned and adorned me. That was my second life’s last day.
I took a beating and smashed my head on the desk’s side, but I was fine when I opened my eyes.
In my third life, I attempted to flee.
What, on the other hand, would a kid do?
So, after two reincarnations, I came to the realization ‘Yes, this is wrong. Let’s defect.’

The door burst open just like I expected it would, and an elderly lady clad in splendor entered.
She sat me down on her lap and made a gesture.
The maid soon arrived with three portraits.
“It’s time for you to choose your father.”
She gave a soft smile.
Yet I’m aware of the situation.
How cold these eyes get when I’m discovered to be a fake.
“Here, child of fate,” the empress stroked my hair and handed me the portraits. “Pick.”

‘Let’s take a deep breath and relax. ‘I’m going to need a place to stay anyway.’
‘I can’t just die as I did before.’ A family who can survive quietly for a while before defecting without fear of death until they are exiled. That is the kind of family I prefer. And there was this time-’Oh my God.’ When the maid and the Empress saw the portrait I picked, their eyes widened. I saw a man who would be my father and swallowed a dry saliva when I arrived at the family to be adopted with the empress’s note. ‘He has a lot of good looks.’ The jaw line is delicate, and the eyes are cyan brown.
A well-defined nose and mouth. a strong figure veiled under a shirt and broad shoulders and a tall stature. What was odd was that such a lovely man had the eyes of a murderer. Finally, the Duke of Dubblede, the world’s villain, was the role I picked. The man’s lieutenant approached me and said something awkwardly.
“The Empress has entrusted you with the care of the child.” With his long fingers, the Duke of Dubblede stroked his smooth jaw.
“She deteriorated into a senile state.”
Then he made an unequivocal statement, saying, “Give her out.”
“However, your Excellency, this is an opportunity to maintain your friendship with the Church. Rejecting the empress’s appeal right away would just make it worse.”
After a certain amount of maturation, this is the only way to flee. Ami Thie, who prioritizes the cause over the human, and Val Lua, who values honor over all else, will not allow me to escape. A father who was uninterested in me would be ideal. I patted the lieutenant’s trousers with both hands and said, “Of course it’s just one way.”

“ On December sebent, an unnounaunced tyax awdit” (There is an unnanounced tax audit on December 7th)
“Eh?” the lieutenant inquired.
He didn’t appear to comprehend what I was doing.
The sudden babble has caught him off guard. ‘My tongue isn’t functioning properly because it hasn’t been long since I returned.’
In former lives, I had seen it firsthand. Dubblede, the king of tax avoidance, charged a hefty fine this winter. I believe the Duke would understand because he has three sons. It must be obvious to someone who has worked with children.
I had a glimmer of optimism but soon lost it. The cold-blooded jerk couldn’t possibly have produced his son using his own hands. ‘I wish I could write, but I’m not very good at it, so I can’t help.’ In the blink of an eye, the Duke hugged me. I could almost sense the pressure in my throat because his eyes were so sharp.
“Is a tax audit set for December 7th?”
What method did you use to obtain that? I had an odd sensation. Just in case he felt I wasn’t a kid, I tried to be as innocent as possible.
“Uh-huh,” It’s a secret.”

The Duke focused his eyes on the lieutenant.
“How well-organized is the account book?”
“… a four-year-old kid…” “Do you believe it?”
“Can you imagine a four-year-old child understands the term unannounced tax audit?”
“I’ll look into it right away.” The lieutenant immediately exited the room after responding. I and the duke exchanged glances. ‘It’s very terrifying…’
This must have been the reason for his presence, riches, influence, and life without a wife…
Women must have found it intimidating to reach him.
It didn’t take long for a maid to appear. “You have a foul odor.” “May I assist you in taking a bath?”
“Yes.”
I was hanging from the woman’s neck as she leaned down with me in her arms.
